If you want to avoid a grainy taste sensation that matcha can deliver if it isn't properly prepared, we recommend that you do it the way that’s been practiced for hundreds of years, using a bamboo chasen (the Japanese term) whisk. It is pretty difficult to get the best results if you don't.

The more prongs your chasen has, the better its quality. The 'best' category ones start at around 80 prongs. This one has 100 prongs that capture the air as it bubbles up while whisking your matcha in hot water for 10-15 seconds and then adding your hot milk (if you're making yours a latte).

To care for your chasen, simply hand-wash in warm water after use and leave to air-dry. Always wash with warm water before use.
